On September 11, Professor Sang Shengmin from the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences of North Carolina A&T State University was invited to visit our laboratory and conducted a one-day discussion with the teachers and students.

In the morning, Professor Sang presented a seminar. The title was Targeting Carbonyl Stress for Metabolic Disease Prevention by Dietary Polyphenols. The talk mainly focused on dietary polyphenols targeting carbonyl and capture of carbon-based compounds by polyphenols of different structural types (catechins, flavonols and phenolic acids, etc.) in vivo and in vitro to prevent metabolic diseases,

During the presentation, Professor Sang shared the experience and research ideas of his research group in the chemical synthesis of active ingredients, efficacy research and metabolic product analysis with the teachers and students, , and given suggestions for the future research direction of tea and health.

In the afternoon, four Ph D students and one master's student from the group of Tea Flavor Chemistry & Health Effects reported on the research progress on the improvement of Alzheimer's disease by key components romin tea, the hypoglycemic mechanism of yellow tea, and the oxidation products and formation mechanism of catechins. Professor Sang systematically summarized the research results, research ideas, research significance and innovation, and proposed targeted solutions to the key problems encountered in the research process of each graduate student, which deeply inspired the teachers and students.
