The State Key Laboratory of Tea Plant Biology and Utilization in Anhui Agricultural University is one of leading teaching and research center of tea science in China. This tea science program was originally established as the Tea Specialization Department of Agriculture College at Fudan University in 1939, and was merged into Anhui Agricultural University in 1952. Right now, the key laboratory is only one state key laboratory of tea science in China, and was selected as the World-class Discipline Developmental Plan of Anhui Province and Anhui Province Summit Discipline. At present, the laboratory focuses on four main research areas, including but not limited to physiological ecology and germplasm innovation of tea plant, secondary metabolism and quality chemistry of tea plant, health benefits and mechanism of tea, and quality & safety and processing & utilization of tea.

The laboratory has the first-class scientific research environments, has 12,000 m2 research spaces and equipped more than hundred of millions RMB of instruments and equipments The laboratory has also built ten research facility centers, including molecular biology, bioinformatics analysis, metabolomics, separation and structure identification, cytological analysis, laboratory animals, quality and safety testing technology, quality control technology, physiology and nutrition, and spectral analysis. The laboratory also has the first-class scientific research team. Currently, the laboratory has 65 research faculties, including 30 professors, 3 national-level talents and 27 PhD supervisors. Among them, 28 faculties were recruited from abroad. Now, the laboratory has gathered multidisciplinary research teams, and has been approved as one of provincial science and technology innovation team in Anhui Province, 115 industrial innovation team of Anhui Province, the Ministry of Education innovation team, province's top ten excellent industrial innovation tea, and the fifth National Advanced Collective of Professional and Technical Talents. In addition, the laboratory's tea chemistry and health team was approved as a key laboratory for international cooperation by the Ministry of Education in 2016. The laboratory was selected as one of the Innovation and Wisdom Introduction Program for Higher Education of China in 2020. Over recent twenty years progress, the laboratory is becoming an important international research center for tea sciences, a place where outstanding scientific and technological talents gather, and a base for cultivating high-level talents in tea science.

Due to the laboratory expanding, we are recruiting talents and postdocs at home and abroad.
